Tamaz Gabisonia, Doctor of Musicology, Dean of the Faculty of Ecclesiastic Music, Doctor of Musicology
Born on 23rd September 1962 in Tbilisi.
In 1986 she graduated from the Faculty of Musicology of Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire.
1986-1990 – Laboratory assistant of the Department of Folk Musical Creation at Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire;
1988-1993 – Pedagogue of the experimental ten-year school functioning at Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire;
Since 1990 – Research fellow and a pedagogue of the Department of Folk Musical Creation at Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire;
1993-1995 – Pedagogue of Tbilisi State Institute of Culture;
2005-2007 – Invited pedagogue at Batumi State Conservatoire;
2005-2012 – Specialist of the International Research Center for Traditional Polyphony at Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire;
Since 2011 up till today – An academic position at Ilia State University in Tbilisi.
In various years he lead pedagogic activities in the Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogic Qualification of Teachers, at the Congregation School of the Patriarchate of Georgia. Since 1981 he participated in the folk expeditions arranged in various corners of Georgia as well as in the work of the juries of folk festivals.
Since 1991 – a chanter of St. Nikoloz Temple of Krtsanisi in Tbilisi;
Since 2009 – Leader of the folklore ensemble “Keria.”
He has published up to 30 scientific works.
