Within the framework of the joint project of the Folklore State Centre’s choirmasters’ schools and the University of Chant, the first meeting was hosted on the 25th of April at the 1st public school of the city by the choirmasters’ school of Kaspi. The meeting was conducted by Tornike Merabishvili, dirigent-regent of the choirmasters’ school of Kaspi, who spoke about the importance of transmitting Georgian music to the new generation.
Georgian Folk Music and Chant, their discovery, understanding and the desire to continue the tradition, the path from the first steps to the University of Chant, my profession: dirigent-regent – second-year students of the undergraduate program of the University of Chant, Elene Shubitidze and Betkil Gvitchiani, shared their experience on these topics with guests. The head of marketing and public relations service of the University of Chant, Rusudan Tabagari, gave an informative presentation about the mission, teaching and projects of the University of Chant. The active participants of the meeting were the students of the choirmasters’ school of Kaspi, who performed samples of songs and hymns from different regions of Georgia in front of the audience.
